Memorial Day

A day on which those who died in active duty military service are remembered.

On this three-day weekend we are waiting to leave work early and have a few beers, cast a line and take out the boat and fire up the BBQ with family and friends. There is a deeper meaning to the last weekend of May.

As we embark on our family adventures, outdoor activities or just general errands,  I would like to ask everyone to please take pause in your own way and have a moment of remembrance and to say a prayer and give thanks to those who made your fun filled weekend possible. Those not home, those who will never return home, those who are still fighting on a front at home.

It is because of them we can share in and enjoy the freedoms that we enjoy and take for granted. Because of their sacrifice, we can enjoy what we love. It is because their willingness to be the brave and strong when others turn and flee, that we can do what we love in fishing, hunting and camping. They have fought and died to make sure we, as sportsman can do what we have such deep-seated passions for, whether it be at the boat launch or neighborhood BBQ. So, I ask this, we conduct ourselves with dignity and respect to honor those fallen on this weekend. We hold ourselves to a higher standard, because we are the future of our sport. We, at Old Oak Outdoors, are forever in debt to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice so we can enjoy what we love. Thank you.

God bless and stay safe everyone.

Tight lines everyone! - Bill Iversen
